El Pla del Real

One of the most beautiful parts of the city with luxurious architecture, university campuses, a park

The district is next to the large beautiful Viveros Park. In the area between Primado Reig Avenue and Blasco Ibañez Avenue, around the German School in Valencia there are very nice buildings with very large apartments, historically rich families of Valencia lived in them.

This is a very good area to live in with a well-developed infrastructure. We are talking about a prestigious area located almost in the center of the city.

There are two hospitals here: public – Hospital Clínic Universitari de València and private – Hospital Quirónsalud Valencia. There are several faculties of the University of Valencia, many language schools, and business schools in the same area. The stadium of the Valencia Football Club is located here.

A very green area: here is the Jardines del Real Park, the dry bed of the Turia River, Jardines de Monforte.

In the XI century, there was a royal residence in the area, but it has not survived to the present day. Instead, only the Royal Bridge remained, built in the XVI century after the destruction of the old wooden bridge as a result of flooding of the Turia River. Tombstones from a nearby cemetery were used in the construction of the bridge, which explains the choice of materials. Due to the variability of the Turia River, Valencian districts have undergone changes in their development. The Royal Bridge today connects the city center with the Jardins de Real gardens.

The Exposició district is home to the Regional Exhibition Building, built in the early 20th century in the Neo-Gothic style, and is a landmark of the quarter. Passing by the former Tobacco Factory building, where government offices are now located, you can walk to Paseo de l’albereda Avenue. A Carriage Parade takes place along this avenue during the traditional fair in July.

You can get to the Exposició quarter by walking over the Scallop Bridge, which was built instead of the old bridge washed away by the river in 1957. From this bridge you can see the stadium of the Valencia football club. There is a university near the Mestalla district.

North of the avenue is the Jaume Roig quarter, which is named after the medieval writer. There are excellent bars here, as well as small establishments aimed at university students. For gourmets, there is a Moroccan cuisine restaurant, and for party lovers – Espit Chupitos, where waiters choose a secret drink for visitors.
