Park Guell in Barcelona

Park Guell in Barcelona

Barcelona is not only a very expensive resort city, but also a real treasure trove of architectural monuments, which will take more than one day to inspect. If you are a true connoisseur of architectural and landscape art, then you should visit Park Guell, which is incredibly popular with locals and visiting guests.

The park is located in the upper part of the city and has a rather interesting history. Initially, the site of the future park was supposed to be an elite area of the city with luxurious estates made in the English style. But, alas, the project did not bring the planned results and with the assistance of the then authorities in Barcelona and on the basis of Gaudi’s work, this famous park was opened. There is nothing left of English here, and the park turned out to be so unique that even today it shocks experts.

The visitors of the park are greeted by a snow-white staircase with fountains, which leads to a hall with 100 columns (although there are actually only 89). The hall is known for its incredible acoustics, and therefore often becomes a place for training local musicians. The main symbol of the park is a mosaic Salamander, which shows how brilliant Gaudi was and how easily he was able to get ahead of his time. Two houses, which resemble gingerbread cookies, are stunning in their sophistication and uniqueness, and therefore are a representative of sculptural art, not architectural.

Going further, you will plunge into the incredible landscape works of Gaudi, which smoothly merge into each other and create a complete and uninterrupted picture. Many structures very much resemble caves from children’s fairy tales, this can only be found in this park. Therefore, this place is perfect for walking with children of all ages, and beautiful photos in a home album are guaranteed.

Since the park is located in the upper part of the city, the observation decks offer stunning views of the surrounding area – everything is in the palm of your hand: the sea, ancient streets, modern skyscrapers and the endless sky. After walking through the alleys, be sure to sit down on a wonderful bench (you will recognize it immediately) and, no matter how banal it sounds, make a wish. It will definitely come true – it has been verified. By the way, Gaudi benches completely repeat the curves of the human body, the master tried to do this with unprecedented enthusiasm.

There is also a museum dedicated to Gaudi on the territory of the park, where you can see some of the works of the famous master and artful furniture from the House of Batllo and Mila. You can’t help but like this park if you’ve been to Barcelona and haven’t visited this place – you haven’t been to Barcelona, be sure of that.
